Through affiliate marketing, an affiliate earns commissions by marketing another person’s or company’s products. Basically, the affiliate finds a product they like, promotes it, and earns a commission from every sale. Commissions are calculated by tracking the sales from the affiliate’s website to the customer’s**.**

So how does Affiliate Marketing work ?

Affiliate marketing works by distributing responsibility for marketing and creation across different individuals. This ensures a more effective marketing strategy while providing contributors with a share of the profits.

There must be three parties involved in order to make this work:

  1. Seller and Product creator

  2. The Affiliate or the Advertiser

  3. The Consumer

Let us understand how does affiliate marketers get paid :

The affiliate doesn’t always need the consumer to purchase the product in order to receive a commission. The affiliate’s contribution to the seller’s sales will be measured differently depending on the program.

An Affiliate will get paid in various ways such as :

  1. Pay Per Sale

This method is a standard affiliate marketing structure. Affiliates receive a percentage of the product sale price when the client purchases the product as a result of the affiliate’s marketing efforts. Therefore, the affiliate must actually convince the investor to invest in the product before they can be compensated.

2. Pay Per Lead

With pay per lead affiliate programs, the affiliate is compensated based on how many leads are converted. It is the affiliate’s responsibility to convince the consumer to visit the merchant’s website and complete the desired action. This can include filling out a contact form, signing up for a trial offer, subscribing to a newsletter, or downloading software.

3. Pay Per Click

In this program, the affiliate is rewarded for redirecting consumers from their marketing platform to the merchant’s website. Affiliates must, therefore, engage consumers to the point where they move from the affiliate’s site to the merchant’s. A commission is paid according to the amount of web traffic generated.
