Hi all!
I recently came upon this website, and the concept itself seems innovative, eco-friendly and lucrative so i wanted to get some advice on the matter, and see if anyone had any experience using this platform.
The website is called The Walnut Fund – https://www.thewalnutfund.com/
Their business model as far as i understood is to crowdfund/invest a new walnut plantation every year. So, i buy for example 10 walnut trees, they plant the trees and take care of them and then we split the profits.
Seeing that they are planting chandler walnut trees i looked into the yield per tree depending on tree maturity.. this is what i came up with yield / hectare:
year 4 / 0.741 year 5 / 1.482 year 6 / 2.964 year 7 / 6.175 year 8/ 7.41 year 9 / 7.41 year 10 / 7.41
A bit less than stated on The Walnut Fund website but not too big of a difference.
The pros and cons of this platform… At least what i think
Pros:
-Novel idea-something new on the market
-low barriers to entry – 150$ min investment
-investors are paid back first and then they begin to take their fee
-overall good transparency and easy to reach team
-Passive long term income
-Great ROI
Cons.
-Long wait for ROI
-Liquidity (although they are working on a model to fix this)
-Its enviroment dependant… risky
To invest or not to invest??
I’m not sure honestly… I set up a meeting with the team later on this week so i can post an update. Has anyone had any experience with the company??
Thanks for your thoughts!
